2 c brown sugar
1/2 c butter
1/2 c shortening
2 eggs
3 c flour
1/2 tsp soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 tbsp water
1 tsp vanilla
1. Cream sugar, butter, and shortening. Add eggs and beat until light and fluffy.
2. Sift and add dry ingredients. Add water and vanilla.
3. Divide dough in half and form two rolls. Chill overnight. Slice cookies 1/2-inch thick. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
