macaroni amatrice

50g streaky bacon chopped
1 small onion chopped
5 tablespoons olive oil
850g canned tomatoes chopped
2 cloves garlic finely chopped
salt
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon chilli powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
2 teaspoons dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
450g short macaroni
25g provolone or other crumbly cheese
Fry the bacon until the fat runs.
Add the onion and fry until soft.
Add the oil and heat it.
Add the tomatoes with the liquid from their can and the garlic.
Add the salt sugar chilli powder paprika basil and oregano and cook over a medium heat with the pan uncovered for 20 minutes.
Meanwhile cook the macaroni in plenty of boiling salted water for about I5 minutes until tender.
Drain and put into a hot dish.
Take the sauce off the heat crumble the cheese and stir it into the sauce.
Pour the sauce over the macaroni and serve.
