Ingredients / Directions
6 country ham steaks (about 3oz each
cut 1/4-inch thick)
4 cup(s)s milk
3 1/2 tbs butter
2 medium Granny Smith apples
cored and sliced into 1/4-inch wedges
1/2 cup(s) apple cider or unsweetened apple juice In a shallow dish
place ham steaks and milk. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Remove ham from milk and pat dry with paper towels. In a large skillet
melt 2 tbs. of the butter over moderately high heat. Add the ham steaks and saut�
turning once
until nicely browned
about 2 minutes each side. Remove the ham to a platter. Add remaining butter and the apples to the skillet. Cook
turning occasionally
until the apples are lightly browned
about 8 minutes. Increase the heat to high and return the ham steaks to the skillet. Add the cider and toss to coat ham. Cook until reheated
3 to 5 minutes. Remove the ham steaks to the platter. Boil the cider until it thickens and glazes the apples
about 1 minute. Spoon the apples over the ham steaks and serve hot.
